A super-strong three-year-old open event brings together a quality field, with many of these runners looking to press their claims for a start in the $80,000 Beautide in two weeks' time against the four-year-olds racing earlier on the program. AFFAMATO (4) and ROCKY ROCKS (6) look the standout mainland visitors and both possess the gate speed to work forward into prominent positions. ROCKY ROCKS (6) looks the one to beat after a dominant victory over the older horses last start in a very quick time. LIKEYOUFORAREASON (5) and ALWAYS BETTOR (7) appear the leading Tasmanian hopes and are both progressive types, although they are still learning their craft. Even so, their natural ability should see them right in the finish with suitable runs. PORT RUN MACHINE (3) looked outstanding early in his two-year-old season before being beaten as a short-priced favourite on two occasions earlier this year. He resumes from a lengthy spell without a trial, but if anywhere near his best, his class could shine through. He also possesses excellent gate speed and may well be the first to the pegs, which would greatly enhance his chances. AFFAMATO (4) and ROCKY ROCKS (6) look the standout mainland visitors and both possess the gate speed to work forward into prominent positions. ROCKY ROCKS (6) looks the one to beat after a dominant victory over the older horses last start in a very quick time. LIKEYOUFORAREASON (5) and ALWAYS BETTOR (7) appear the leading Tasmanian hopes and are both progressive types, although they are still learning their craft. Race comment
A super-strong three-year-old open event brings together a quality field, with many of these runners looking to press their claims for a start in the $80,000 Beautide in two weeks' time against the four-year-olds racing earlier on the program. AFFAMATO (4) and ROCKY ROCKS (6) look the standout mainland visitors and both possess the gate speed to work forward into prominent positions. ROCKY ROCKS (6) looks the one to beat after a dominant victory over the older horses last start in a very quick time. LIKEYOUFORAREASON (5) and ALWAYS BETTOR (7) appear the leading Tasmanian hopes and are both progressive types, although they are still learning their craft. Even so, their natural ability should see them right in the finish with suitable runs. PORT RUN MACHINE (3) looked outstanding early in his two-year-old season before being beaten as a short-priced favourite on two occasions earlier this year. He resumes from a lengthy spell without a trial, but if anywhere near his best, his class could shine through. He also possesses excellent gate speed and may well be the first to the pegs, which would greatly enhance his chances. ROCKY STRIDE (8) has had little luck against older horses in recent starts and could be the beneficiary if the favoured runners overdo things up front, allowing him to charge home late.
