The Group 2 Raider Stakes for the four-year-old colts and geldings sees the two favourites, HUNGRY HIPPO (5) and OKANUI BEACH (8), both come up with awkward draws. HUNGRY HIPPO (5) has opened at very short odds with bookmakers, although the race appears much more open than the market suggests. He is not lightning quick off the gate and there is plenty of early speed drawn around him, including the Todd Rattray-trained pair PREPARATION (4) and UNMATCHED (6), who both finished second in their respective heats and will be looking to make the most of their front row draws. OKANUI BEACH (8) has drawn poorly and will almost certainly be looking to get off the pegs very early. With the expected strong tempo throughout, he should still have every opportunity to finish over the top, just as he did with a brilliant closing performance at Bendigo two starts ago, and a repeat of that effort would make him very hard to hold out. IMPERIAL SANZ (10) looks the only other genuine winning chance on class after finishing strongly behind HUNGRY HIPPO (5) last start from the rear of the field and will relish a genuinely run race, which appears likely. The Group 2 Raider Stakes for the four-year-old colts and geldings sees the two favourites, HUNGRY HIPPO (5) and OKANUI BEACH (8), both come up with awkward draws. HUNGRY HIPPO (5) has opened at very short odds with bookmakers, although the race appears much more open than the market suggests. He is not lightning quick off the gate and there is plenty of early speed drawn around him, including the Todd Rattray-trained pair PREPARATION (4) and UNMATCHED (6), who both finished second in their respective heats and will be looking to make the most of their front row draws. OKANUI BEACH (8) has drawn poorly and will almost certainly be looking to get off the pegs very early. With the expected strong tempo throughout, he should still have every opportunity to finish over the top, just as he did with a brilliant closing performance at Bendigo two starts ago, and a repeat of that effort would make him very hard to hold out. The Group 2 Raider Stakes for the four-year-old colts and geldings sees the two favourites, HUNGRY HIPPO (5) and OKANUI BEACH (8), both come up with awkward draws. HUNGRY HIPPO (5) has opened at very short odds with bookmakers, although the race appears much more open than the market suggests. He is not lightning quick off the gate and there is plenty of early speed drawn around him, including the Todd Rattray-trained pair PREPARATION (4) and UNMATCHED (6), who both finished second in their respective heats and will be looking to make the most of their front row draws. OKANUI BEACH (8) has drawn poorly and will almost certainly be looking to get off the pegs very early. With the expected strong tempo throughout, he should still have every opportunity to finish over the top, just as he did with a brilliant closing performance at Bendigo two starts ago, and a repeat of that effort would make him very hard to hold out. Race comment
The Group 2 Raider Stakes for the four-year-old colts and geldings sees the two favourites, HUNGRY HIPPO (5) and OKANUI BEACH (8), both come up with awkward draws. HUNGRY HIPPO (5) has opened at very short odds with bookmakers, although the race appears much more open than the market suggests. He is not lightning quick off the gate and there is plenty of early speed drawn around him, including the Todd Rattray-trained pair PREPARATION (4) and UNMATCHED (6), who both finished second in their respective heats and will be looking to make the most of their front row draws. OKANUI BEACH (8) has drawn poorly and will almost certainly be looking to get off the pegs very early. With the expected strong tempo throughout, he should still have every opportunity to finish over the top, just as he did with a brilliant closing performance at Bendigo two starts ago, and a repeat of that effort would make him very hard to hold out. IMPERIAL SANZ (10) looks the only other genuine winning chance on class after finishing strongly behind HUNGRY HIPPO (5) last start from the rear of the field and will relish a genuinely run race, which appears likely.
