Race comment
The second heat of the two-year-old colts also brings together a small field, but it appears to have a little more depth than the fillies. CALZO SNIPER (2) enjoyed an easy lead before sprinting home with a sharp final half in the opening heat, only to be run down late by a very smart youngster. Similar tactics are expected again here. However, HEY POSTER BOY (1) may elect to kick up from the pole and attempt to hold the lead after showing his ability with a dominant win three starts ago, where he produced a very slick closing sectional. LOTSEVEN (6) is another promising youngster from the Tammy Langley stable and impressed when winning a trial on Monday. CLAYTON (5) makes his Tasmanian debut for the Howlett stable after some strong performances in the APG heats and finals on the mainland, where he recorded a pair of excellent second placings. He also trialled nicely on Monday and looks an improving type who should be running on strongly at the business end. MYSTERY MAIL (7) got everything wrong last start after becoming too keen when the mobile accelerated away, but his previous effort, where he raced outside the leader in fast time and fought on gamely for second, showed he has the ability to win a race of this nature if he produces his best manners.Selections: CALZO SNIPER (2), CLAYTON (5), LOTSEVEN (6), HEY POSTER BOY (1) Staking Strategy: CALZO SNIPER led and had his chance last start but was beaten by a handy one.
