RACE COMMENT

OVERVIEW: TAKAO (1) has been racing well recently, but has just been beaten late by swoopers or horses that have been slightly better on the day. He doesn't look likely to remain a maiden for much longer, and barrier one suits. HEAVENLY NIKKY (5) surprises me that she is still a maiden, as she is often thereabouts. If she gets the right run, she can break through. THE SPARKLER (2) is a first starter for David Barbetti, who does a great job with his team. His trial form has been encouraging, and we should learn plenty more about him here. ELLIANA (7) flashed home to finish second behind Imon last start. With the right run, she will be right in the finish. TARZINA (6) also impressed me last start with a tough performance and is another genuine winning chance. BACK: TAKAO (1) – 1.5 units (win)
