PETERS THE DREAM (5) started favourite in the first two-year-old race of the season, where he was forced to do plenty of work before tiring late. His trials leading into that run were strong and he should derive plenty of benefit from the outing, so a forward showing would be expected here after a spell. HAVEYOUMETMAYNARD (1) showed good ability on debut after enjoying a nice run in transit and sprinting home strongly to finish second. He should take improvement from that race experience and from the pole draw looks certain to be in the finish. Those two appear the leading contenders in the race. OZZIE TART (4) and OZZIE DIAMOND (6) both arrive in the state after being beaten long distances in fast time in Victoria, but their prior trial performances were good enough to suggest they can be competitive here.
