OVERVIEW: It’s staggeringly easy to forget about equine stars when they’re on the sidelines but one suspects MAX DELIGHT (6) will remind us what he’s all about first up here tonight. After all, this is the horse that beat LOCHINVAR ART (6) to Vic and Oz 3YO of the Year honours just two seasons back. In all honesty it won’t matter what tactics are employed but there are few faster beginners than this fellow south of the equator and if Josh Aiken so desires he’ll rip this uniquely gifted blueblood to the top and that will be the race. Identifying the first horse to follow the favourite home is no easy task. If you can forget the disappointment of UNCLE JORD’S (2) effort last weekend he warrants top billing in that department but there are reasons to rate the silver medal claims of every runner engaged headlined by JOE NIEN (3) whose last two have been much more encouraging and TORRID SAINT (1) who was well below his best last start but is much better than that and gets his ideal alley. OVERVIEW: It’s staggeringly easy to forget about equine stars when they’re on the sidelines but one suspects MAX DELIGHT (6) will remind us what he’s all about first up here tonight. After all, this is the horse that beat LOCHINVAR ART (6) to Vic and Oz 3YO of the Year honours just two seasons back. In all honesty it won’t matter what tactics are employed but there are few faster beginners than this fellow south of the equator and if Josh Aiken so desires he’ll rip this uniquely gifted blueblood to the top and that will be the race. Identifying the first horse to follow the favourite home is no easy task. If you can forget the disappointment of UNCLE JORD’S (2) effort last weekend he warrants top billing in that department but there are reasons to rate the silver medal claims of every runner engaged headlined by JOE NIEN (3) whose last two have been much more encouraging and TORRID SAINT (1) who was well below his best last start but is much better than that and gets his ideal alley.
