OVERVIEW: SON OF A BROAD (5) turned in his best performance for the new stable over the long trip last time, doing work and only narrowly going down. He can press forward from this draw, and a repeat of his effort last time can be good enough. PEARL OF PHILTRA (6) is a 3yo filly who’s trialled well into this, has a tricky draw to overcome but seems to have ability to keep safe. MAJOR EASTWOOD (2) was going to have a say in the lead on debut before pacing roughly at various stages; if he can improve his manners off that experience will go close. LOWER WEST SIDE (9) promised to do something last prep off solid trials; the ability is there but may need this run. BACK: SON OF A BROAD (5) – 2 units (win)
