RACE COMMENT
OVERVIEW: EAGLE MAJOR (1) is not noted for being a quick beginner, but if he can hold the stablemates back from the pole, he becomes the one to beat. His closing sectionals lately from bad set-ups have been good, and this looks a suitable assignment. MUSSEL SHOALS (2) is that stablemate and loves the Echuca track, being a very quick beginner who seems destined to lead from the favourable draw. She was very good last start narrowly going down; the only concern is her final 100 metres over the middle trip. COVERED IN GOLD (8) gives away experience, but in two runs back with his former stable has shown he’s going ok; he had excuses last time. NORTHERN TERROR (3) can slipstream across from this draw and get a good run; he was a decent winner last time out. BACK: EAGLE MAJOR (1) – 2 units (win)
