RACE COMMENT

OVERVIEW: Maiden pace where there’s not a lot of form to get excited about, so I’m taking a chance on one here for the Alex Ashwood stable. LUVN MARY (2) did a good job after being knocked over at a crucial stage on Wednesday night at Bendigo to only be beaten 23.8m. She clocked a slick third quarter of 27.0 and last half of 55.9 in what was a sneaky good effort despite the big margin. Third-up from a good draw in a weak race, she might be worth a play. There was also an encouraging effort from CASH KING (1) last Friday night at Ararat. He sat parked throughout the trip and was only grabbed by two handy rivals to be beaten 5.9m on the line. There’s some other solid efforts scattered throughout his form and he’s a good chance from the draw. MISSMALACHITE (7) has been toiling away for some time trying to win a maiden but doesn’t look far away and is a definite chance, while ALCATRAZ MISS (5) led until the shadows at Boort last Sunday and might be next best of the chances.
