RACE COMMENT
OVERVIEW: YANKEE GAMBLER (5) is a versatile pacer, which is racing in good form and deserves to break through for a win. He left a trailing position to move up without cover when a close second behind Woodlea Diego at Melton. He gains a good draw with the aid of a concession claim and should give a bold showing. TOO THE MAX (9) led throughout and scored comfortably at Geelong two starts ago then finished off well from three back on the markers at his latest close up fourth. He is racing at his peak and looms as one of the leading chances again. PRECIOUS BELLE (2) was caught wide early, restrained to last and finished off solidly for second at Kilmore. She won from behind the leader at Kilmore on December 18 and is drawn to gain a trail just off the speed again. IAMAWINGATE (7) utilized his brilliant gate speed to find the lead and scored at Terang last outing. This race is harder but he has claims along with ADMIRALOFTHEFLEET (8).
