RACE COMMENT
OVERVIEW: THE STEEL DRAGON (6) settled in the second half of the field and didn’t have much luck in the straight when a close up fifth behind Clymenus at Melton last outing. His overall form is sound and he has won two of his three starts at Ballarat so he will take holding out in the run to the finish. RUBY WINGATE (5) failed to run on as expected last week but the time was fast and she is usually competitive against this class. She was beaten narrowly in a mile rate of 1.56.5 prior and is worth another chance. HITTHEROADJACK (7) began fast and attempted to lead throughout when a close second behind Clymenus at Melton last outing. The wide draw is a disadvantage but this race is no harder. EDWARDE GRANGE (3) settled in the second half of the field and couldn’t work into the race when sixth at his first run since October. He performed very well at the trials prior and he rates as a value hope.
