RACE COMMENT
OVERVIEW: MAXY BOMBER (13) sustained a long run and scored impressively in a mile rate of 1.56.4 at Ballarat then finished unplaced in the Super Series Silver event last outing. He has been placed in five of his past seven starts and should prove hard to beat again. ILLAWONG PHOENIX (9) is a strong mare, which will appreciate a drop back in class on her recent performances. She was a big winner at Ballarat three starts ago and is worth thought again. MONSIEUR FLAMEL (7) began quickly to lead, established a big leading margin mid-race and kept on running when a big winner at Shepparton two starts ago. He is likely to push forward from his wide draw and should make his presence felt. ARE WEASLEY (5) is racing in good form and should be competitive again. He was a winner at Ballarat on November 27 and he picked up a lot of ground when second in the race won by MONSIEUR FLAMEL (7) two starts ago.
