RACE COMMENT
OVERVIEW: It appears to be a match between the two classy fillies I AM WILMA (4) and GATESYS GEM (5). I AM WILMA (4) commenced from the inside of the second line, circled the field to park without cover at the 1500m and pressured the leader for the remainder of the trip so she was very impressive in her heat success. She possesses early speed, is drawn inside of GATESYS GEM (5) and has hit peak form at the right time so she gets the nod. GATESYS GEM (5) was brave in defeat when second in the Victoria Derby, performed admirably in two starts during the New Zealand Cup Carnival then effortlessly won her heat. She is very good and is sure to make her presence felt. KEAYANG KURKI (3) copped plenty of pressure from I AM WILMA (4) and tired late when sixth in her heat. Her form prior was very consistent and there is a good chance she will be trailing the leader here so she must be respected.
