RACE COMMENT
OVERVIEW: It is an open race for the trotters to commence the night with many winning chances. AVANT GUARD (3) endured a tough run when second behind Aldebaran Acrux at Melton last outing and should be competitive again. PERFIDIOUS SUE (2) has gait issues but is a very strong mare when she can put it altogether. She produced a handy effort for fourth when she was resuming and will take catching if she is able to find the lead. ILLAWONG LARAJAY (9) was runner up behind the in-form trotter Harold Smith on March 29 and she finished off well at her latest fifth (7m). She is well placed with the aid of a concession claim and is worth thought. BRANDLO PRINCE (8) worked home well for third in the Bendigo Cup last week and this race is slightly easier so he is not without a chance.
