Race comment
OVERVIEW: British novelist L P Hartley once wrote the past is another country, they do things differently there. The same could be said for leading at the trots. Excellent as PULL THE OTHER LEG (1) had been when finding the top and winning his first two Aussie starts, there’s little doubt his effort to sit parked in 1:54.8 and neve shirk the issue last start elevated his reputation far more than those initial successes. Despite lacking extra special gate speed, PULL THE OTHER LEG (1) – barring early heroics from ACCELERE (3) – should lead tonight. If he does, and if last weekend’s efforts didn’t knock him around, he should lead and win. In fact, he’s one of the two best wagers all night. Beyond our top tip there’s a five-horse Peloton that all have their strengths and advantages with little distinguishing them. Purely on form, KOSIMO (12) rates as the major threat with his extended, withering turn of pace while ALLSHOOKUP (8) draws for every favour imaginable if PULL THE OTHER LEG (1) leads as expected. Others in that group are SOEXTRA (10), RICK REILLY (11) and also LOVE INA CHEVY (7). EARLY SPEED: 1 (Potential Leader) + 3 + 4? RATINGS: 1/ 12/ 8/ 10/ 11/ 7/ 9/ 3/ 5/ 13/ 6/ 4
