OVERVIEW: Anybody still pondering the importance of Speed Maps in Harness Racing, particularly at metro level, here’s exhibit A for the prosecution case. On face value only two horses can lead this short-course 68-77 contests: BIDE OUR TIME (1) or DONT NEED AN EXCUSE (4) and life changes for all concerned depending on which one does. The good news for DONT NEED AN EXCUSE (4) is that he’s slightly favoured to win this early war, and even if he doesn’t there should be some cover coming. For those reasons – and also courtesy of his Black Book last -start performance – DON’T NEED AN EXCUSE (4) rates narrowly clear despite rising in grade. Should that early skirmish go for longer than the frontrunners would like there’s every chance JILLIBY NITRO (10) swamps them late while DRAIN THE SWAMP (8) probably becomes the in-transit fave if BIDE OUR TIME (1) kicks through early on. One of that trio should win here though TUPPENCE (7) is tough to disrespect after his dominant last start triumph, even from a horrid draw and the tasty blowout players for those playing wider/staggered Quads are OZZIE PLAYBOY (2) and also VINCENZINA (5). EARLY SPEED: 1,4 + 7 + 2? RATINGS: 4/ 10/ 8/ 7/ 5/ 2/ 1/ 11/ 6/ 9
