OVERVIEW: PELICAN FLY (3) is a former New South Wales pacer, which performed exceptionally well at a recent Melton trial victory and is backing up quickly from his big effort at Cranbourne on Tuesday night, where he finished third after galloping away. Unfortunately, he is now omitted from the draw and will start from the outside of the front line but he is still worth thought. MADEEBA (7) was resuming since April when he gained a one out and one back trail, came out three horses wide from the 500m and finished off strongly to win by 15m at Hamilton on Sunday. This race is only marginally tougher so he must be considered as a winning chance again. OUR BELLA LUCIA (2) began quickly to find the lead and rolled along at a genuine tempo when she scored by 12m over Celestia at Bendigo last week. She is drawn to lead again so she will take catching. TIMELY SOVEREIGN (1) settled three back on the inside, was held up for a run at a vital stage and used the sprint lane when third at Charlton on Monday. He hasn’t won since December 2020 but his past few efforts have been promising and he is drawn to receive every chance. CHEDDAR VALLEY (6) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and rates as a value hope. EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,7 RATINGS: 3,7/ 2/ 1,6/ 5/ 4

Race comment
