OVERVIEW: SPENDTHIFT (3) is a first starter for trainer Maree Caldow, which has been performing nicely at the Melton trials with his latest effort being a second behind the former New Zealand pacer Southshore in a mile rate of 1.58.8. He has ability and strikes a suitable assignment first up. ANGEL OF HEAVEN (8) is a first starter for trainer Luke Stapleton, which won a Bendigo trial last week over Heezalittlecaesar. She is a beautifully bred filly and is worth thought despite the awkward draw. FRANCESO (9) is another debutante that has performed well at the trials and must be kept safe. He is prepared by Vince Dicocco and has won at his past two trial attempts at Bacchus Marsh and Geelong. BLOSSOM DELIGHT (6) is a swift beginner and tried to lead throughout when third at Gunbower last week. She is worth thought along with MUCKINBAR DIVA (1), which was solidly supported first up but broke stride and lost all chance. EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible leader), 1,2,3 RATINGS: 3/ 8,9/ 6/ 1/ 2,7
