OVERVIEW: FREDDIESAM (6) boasts very strong credentials in New Zealand with several recent victories at Winton. His seventh in the Roxburgh Cup was exceptionally good after he missed away by a large margin and was still able to beat a few runners to the line. He made a three wide move and was left stranded out deep on the track when unplaced first up at Echuca ($1-70 fav). The bigger track will suit and there should be a very genuine tempo in the early stages of this event. The battle for early supremacy is a key to the result with SAFE UNDER FIRE (2), WENTHESTARZZZALINE (3) and WHATA GLIMPSE (4) all being fast beginners. BEACH WRECK (5) may benefit from a quick early tempo and gain a nice trail just behind the pace. He hasn’t had much luck since a Maryborough victory in a mile rate of 1.56.5 so he is worth a ticket each way. FLYING SCRIBE (1) will have to use some energy holding a forward position at the start but he has been performing nicely at the trials and he was unlucky at his local debut where he was held up behind a tiring runner and lost 10m approaching the home turn. If WENTHESTARZZZALINE (3) can find the lead without using too much energy in the early stages, she will take some catching. EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,2,4 RATINGS: 6/ 1,3,5/ 4,8

OVERVIEW: FREDDIESAM (6) boasts very strong credentials in New Zealand with several recent victories at Winton. His seventh in the Roxburgh Cup was exceptionally good after he missed away by a large margin and was still able to beat a few runners to the line. He made a three wide move and was left stranded out deep on the track when unplaced first up at Echuca ($1-70 fav). The bigger track will suit and there should be a very genuine tempo in the early stages of this event. The battle for early supremacy is a key to the result with SAFE UNDER FIRE (2), WENTHESTARZZZALINE (3) and WHATA GLIMPSE (4) all being fast beginners. BEACH WRECK (5) may benefit from a quick early tempo and gain a nice trail just behind the pace. He hasn’t had much luck since a Maryborough victory in a mile rate of 1.56.5 so he is worth a ticket each way. FLYING SCRIBE (1) will have to use some energy holding a forward position at the start but he has been performing nicely at the trials and he was unlucky at his local debut where he was held up behind a tiring runner and lost 10m approaching the home turn. Race comment
OVERVIEW: FREDDIESAM (6) boasts very strong credentials in New Zealand with several recent victories at Winton. His seventh in the Roxburgh Cup was exceptionally good after he missed away by a large margin and was still able to beat a few runners to the line. He made a three wide move and was left stranded out deep on the track when unplaced first up at Echuca ($1-70 fav). The bigger track will suit and there should be a very genuine tempo in the early stages of this event. The battle for early supremacy is a key to the result with SAFE UNDER FIRE (2), WENTHESTARZZZALINE (3) and WHATA GLIMPSE (4) all being fast beginners. BEACH WRECK (5) may benefit from a quick early tempo and gain a nice trail just behind the pace. He hasn’t had much luck since a Maryborough victory in a mile rate of 1.56.5 so he is worth a ticket each way. FLYING SCRIBE (1) will have to use some energy holding a forward position at the start but he has been performing nicely at the trials and he was unlucky at his local debut where he was held up behind a tiring runner and lost 10m approaching the home turn. If WENTHESTARZZZALINE (3) can find the lead without using too much energy in the early stages, she will take some catching. EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,2,4 RATINGS: 6/ 1,3,5/ 4,8
