OVERVIEW: These metro maidens are almost always as open as the Sydney heads and this opening event on tonight’s Melton programme is no different. The key to this contest, possibly, is the volume of speed drawn wide on the front row. EXPLICIT CASTLE (6) simply doesn’t participate in races unless he leads and GAME SET MAJOR (7) has found the top in 10 of his past 20 starts and pulled like a Tug-Of-War champion last time out. Should they rip as quickly as expected early on then JOE NIEN (10) who split Fourbigmen and The Crimson Prince two starts back in 1:52.6 can rifle home all over the top. The other ‘class’ runner is FALCON STRIDE (9). He looks brilliantly placed here after splitting Bettor Be The Bomb and Forty thieves – who both contest the fast class tonight – just two starts back and it may be a battle of reinsmanship between A Butt and J Justice that decides this race. If the tempo is more sedate than expected then EXPLICIT CASTLE (6) can clearly win given he may take the front for stablemate RAGNARR (2) and broke 1:54 last time he led over the short trip here though winning chances also go to RAGNARR (2) himself along with last-start eye-catcher RETURN SOLDIER (4) and the always genuine RADIUS (1). OVERVIEW: These metro maidens are almost always as open as the Sydney heads and this opening event on tonight’s Melton programme is no different. The key to this contest, possibly, is the volume of speed drawn wide on the front row. EXPLICIT CASTLE (6) simply doesn’t participate in races unless he leads and GAME SET MAJOR (7) has found the top in 10 of his past 20 starts and pulled like a Tug-Of-War champion last time out. Should they rip as quickly as expected early on then JOE NIEN (10) who split Fourbigmen and The Crimson Prince two starts back in 1:52.6 can rifle home all over the top. The other ‘class’ runner is FALCON STRIDE (9). He looks brilliantly placed here after splitting Bettor Be The Bomb and Forty thieves – who both contest the fast class tonight – just two starts back and it may be a battle of reinsmanship between A Butt and J Justice that decides this race. EXPLICIT CASTLE (6) simply doesn’t participate in races unless he leads and GAME SET MAJOR (7) has found the top in 10 of his past 20 starts and pulled like a Tug-Of-War champion last time out. Should they rip as quickly as expected early on then JOE NIEN (10) who split Fourbigmen and The Crimson Prince two starts back in 1:52.6 can rifle home all over the top. The other ‘class’ runner is FALCON STRIDE (9). He looks brilliantly placed here after splitting Bettor Be The Bomb and Forty thieves – who both contest the fast class tonight – just two starts back and it may be a battle of reinsmanship between A Butt and J Justice that decides this race. Race comment
OVERVIEW: These metro maidens are almost always as open as the Sydney heads and this opening event on tonight’s Melton programme is no different. The key to this contest, possibly, is the volume of speed drawn wide on the front row. EXPLICIT CASTLE (6) simply doesn’t participate in races unless he leads and GAME SET MAJOR (7) has found the top in 10 of his past 20 starts and pulled like a Tug-Of-War champion last time out. Should they rip as quickly as expected early on then JOE NIEN (10) who split Fourbigmen and The Crimson Prince two starts back in 1:52.6 can rifle home all over the top. The other ‘class’ runner is FALCON STRIDE (9). He looks brilliantly placed here after splitting Bettor Be The Bomb and Forty thieves – who both contest the fast class tonight – just two starts back and it may be a battle of reinsmanship between A Butt and J Justice that decides this race. If the tempo is more sedate than expected then EXPLICIT CASTLE (6) can clearly win given he may take the front for stablemate RAGNARR (2) and broke 1:54 last time he led over the short trip here though winning chances also go to RAGNARR (2) himself along with last-start eye-catcher RETURN SOLDIER (4) and the always genuine RADIUS (1).
