OVERVIEW: As with most races this evening only a small field will assemble in this 63 to 69 affair but three of the six runners engaged will be tackling infinitely stronger races in the not-too-distant future. Mapping a race like this with so few combatants is trickier than it may appear but at the end of the day FIREROCKFIREROLL (1) and URBADBOY (2) are the two most exciting pacers engaged and both will get sweet trips from perfect alleys regardless of what happens early on. The only time we've seen these rising stars clash was in the VHRC Classic in late March when both runners were well beaten by Pacifico Dream. On that occasion URBADBOY (2) easily beat his chief threat here home and his only run since then was an eerily dominant first-up triumph at Ballarat 11 days back. Not only is he the benchmark runner but also the Best Bet all night at $1.60 or better. As mentioned his main resistance will come from FIREROCKFIREROLL (1) who is well regarded by the Stewart/Tonkin camp and may have a minor tactical advantage from the inside lane while GLENAVRIL KING (6) also warrants serious respect based on recent form in the West but will need to be clearly better than his two better drawn rivals to prevail which seems unlikely. Best of the rest is DAN FERNANDO (5) but you might as well play field at the back end of First Fours should you choose to play the race that way. EARLY SPEED: 1,2 + 3?,4?,5?
