Newcastle R5 WOLF BLASS PACE

Race comment

Out of position at the start when 85m 10th $51 (Sr3) Smoken Alice Young 2100m (2:02.7) 3C0 race Dec 21 then was a handy winner $13 (Fr7) defeating Rosarito Rock 1.5m Newcastle 2030m (2:02.5) R3649 race May 1. Caught the eye winning first-up over the course and distance but this is harder and not helped by the draw.

Race comment

Good run when 2.5m 2nd $2.60 (Fr2) Better Than Carmer Newcastle 1609m (1:57.7) 3R4150 race Apr 25 then caught the eye defeating Konigsberg 1.5m $5.50 (Fr1) Newcastle 1609m (1:59.8) R3450 race May 4. Has returned in solid form with a placing and a last start win; drawn the second row but definite contender again.

Race comment

Deadheated for first with Dynamite Beach Nov 20 Newcastle 2030m (2:03.5) in a R4150 race then beaten 14m 7th $4.80 (Fr6) Dollys On A Roll Newcastle 2030m (1:58.2) R4160 race May 9. Proven at this course and distance and fitter for the first up run; can improve in this.

Race comment

Broke during running when 68.5m 10th $16 (Fr2) Better Than Magic Menangle 1609m (1:55.9) R3450 race Apr 17 then beaten 15.2m 6th $8.50 (Fr3) Monterey Penrith 2125m (2:00.8) R3450 race Apr 30. Yet to win but placed twice in 7 starts and fitter for recent racing; ran well at only previous run at this track and has claims on that effort from a soft draw here.

Resuming. Eased early and raced roughly when 10.2m 3rd $19 (Fr3) Sea Hawke Redcliffe 2040m (2:00.4) R4955 race Nov 7 then broke at the start when distanced 10th $7.50 (Fr4) Tascott Lady Redcliffe 1780m (2:00.4) R4954 race Nov 20. Returning for a second preparation and though unplaced on debut should have benefited from the race experience; in the mix.

Race comment

Tired over the latter stages, had a flat tyre and tightened during running when distanced 10th $6.00 (Fr2) Kanye Crusader Tamworth 1609m (1:57.9) R5265 race Apr 13 then out of position at the start when 52m 9th $8.50 (Fr7) Flightnfight Newcastle 1609m (1:57.3) R3255 race May 4. Not rating well enough.
