OVERVIEW: In many ways this is a weird brand of Super Sprint given five or six of the eight starters will probably do nothing off the arm. So rather than the fireworks we often see in these six furlong events we're likely to watch just HULI NIEN (1) and FORTY THIEVES (6) employ their early speed with HULI NIEN (1) favoured to keep the front. There is no guarantee of temp after that either. Basically Jimmy Herbertson will need to make a decision; can I beat HULI NIEN (1) with speed or am I better to turn this into a 1200m staying test with FORTY THIEVES (6) even though it leaves me vulnerable to the sharks circling behind me? One would favour that it'll be controlled tempo and a tasty final quarter and if that's the case then the rapidly improving HULI NIEN (1) looks the one despite being the lowest assessed runner engaged. If there's much more pace than expected then dynamite sit-sprinter PROFESSOR TOM (8) will be dangerous even though he generally improves with racing and will need to come from last while the other major hopes are TEE CEE BEE MACRAY (2) who will relish racing behind his stablemate should that fellow keep the top and FORTY THIEVES (6) who is just a very good, very strong customer that won't let you down should this develop into a war. EARLY SPEED: 1,6
